Ramen Stir Fry (Yakisoba-Style) Recipe

Looking for a quick and flavorful noodle dish? This ramen stir fry is inspired by Japanese yakisoba, a popular street-food style stir-fried noodle dish.

Packed with vegetables and tossed in a sweet and savory yakisoba-style sauce, this ramen noodle stir fry is an easy and satisfying meal that comes together in minutes.

What Is Ramen Stir Fry (Yakisoba-Style)?

Ramen stir fry is a quick noodle dish where cooked ramen noodles are tossed in a hot pan with vegetables, protein, and sauce.

It’s similar to Japanese yakisoba, which is typically made with steamed noodles. In contrast, this recipe uses boiled ramen noodles, resulting in a lighter texture while still delivering the savory flavors of a classic stir-fried noodle dish.

This makes ramen stir fry a convenient and flexible dish that can be prepared quickly with fresh ramen noodles.

Otherwise, mix all ingredients together before cooking.

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Vegetables

  • 1 cup cabbage, roughly chopped
  • 1 cup bean sprouts
  • 2 tablespoons carrot, julienned
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil (vegetable or canola)

Protein

  • 50–70g sausage, chicken, pork, or tofu

Optional toppings

  • aonori (seaweed powder)
  • bonito flakes
  • beni shoga (pickled red ginger)
  • chili oil

Instructions

1) Bring water to a boil and cook ramen noodles for about half of the recommended package time, then drain well.

If you're not going to cook the noodles right away, coat them with oil to keep them from sticking together.

Once drained, cut the noodles roughly in half — this helps them mix more easily with the ingredients.

2) Heat oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.

3) Stir fry proteins, cabbage, bean sprouts and carrots until slightly softened.

4) Add the cooked ramen noodles to the pan.

5) Pour in the ramen stir fry sauce and toss everything together.

6) Stir fry for another minute until the noodles are evenly coated with sauce.

7) Top with optional toppings before serving.
